It’s like a part Canal Jeans (do you remember our Canal Jeans on Broadway in our better days of NYC?), a part CBGB gallery (this one too, of course) and a part Urban Outfitters. 64 rue Tiquetonne. That’s the address and you want to write this down. Because you want to check this place out. It’s big, it’s cool as hell and it’s a very well organized mixed vintage and modern day clothing Mad House.
You may want to check out thier fantastic website, http://espacekiliwatch.fr/
A portion of beautiful ceiling with kicking 70’s atomic chrome bubble light fixture and a good dozen of well framed butterfly collection. This shop is wide and impressively long. You would think the room where you were would be the last one, then there would be three more after with well stocked and organized army jackets, motor boots, hats, ton of jeans, shirts, sweaters, leathers, sneakers, bags, scarves and the list goes on. There are enough of amount of shop helpers to help you with anything. But again you need a good half day to even look through and decide where you want to even begin.
This is the last room at the end where western meets the leather motor jackets.
I really wanted to get better pic of the main cashier area because they just looked so awesome but this was the best I could do at the moment. ( I was not supposed take any photos…!)
Ha ha, lastly more leopard prints in Paris!

When you finish the main streets of Marais area (mix of Soho and Nolita of NYC) for all the good shopping like `Loft` and `Sandro`, you will hit a small street filled with Moroccan and Greek restaurants and bakeries, Rue des Rosiers. And right there in the heart of everything, you will see this small but lively great vintage shop where you will feel like you are hitting a Jack Pot with flea market like finds with great prices. Eh-hem, of course you will not find anything more selected and up-scaled or mint condition items as in Lacasapark, but you can definitely have great fun in this shop digging and browsing.

Fur coats start at 35 euros up to 150 euros, classic sailor tees at 10 euros, bus-boy caps are around 5 euros. Not bad for Paris!

Bags and shoes and bags and shoes and bags and shoes…!
Animal prints are everywhere in Paris right now from the high ends to high street fashion and of course the Vintage ones.
There are sweaters, kilts, track jackets, fedoras, western shirts and so many more in this shop. Check it out next time you are out in Paris.
And here are all those yummy restaurants on this strip.

I just ordered this book “Vintage Rock T -shirts” by Johan Kugelberg” on line. T shirts in this book were not really produced to be commercially retailed. They were made for rock stars or they were made by rock stars for the fans to be given away.
I can’t wait to see them!
Other books I ordered: T shirt factory, How to print.
I’m thinking to make some interesting tees for Lacasapark soon.
For the weekend 6: River runs through it.
Filed Under For the Weekend, Travel, Vintage | Leave a Comment

Upstating for many NY peeps means “Woodstock” like we did for many times. But there are also other kind of good areas like Callicoon, http://www.visitcallicoon.com/, right by the beautiful Delaware river which separates the NY and the PA. It’s woody as Woodstock but somehow much more opened up feeling with the river running right through it. Somehow PA side along the water is more of field than steep mountains and it adds a bit of different feeling than other parts of upstate NY.
Our dear friend Tamara owns a good size wonderful 2 bedroom house up in Long Eddy which is about 15 mt car ride from the Callicoon. So, as lucky we are to have a friend with a weekend home, we get to stay there and do fun things together. Most of action around the shopping happens in Callicoon like Sunday morning farmer’s market, cheese and wine store and even a charming old school movie theater.

And of course I especially fall for vintage shops in the town. There are also antique furniture shops that are handsome and fun but I really dig for the vintage shops. In Callicoon, there are about 3-4 vintage stores. Couple of them also carry antique furniture or typical mountain gears mixed in and I find myself enjoying to browse them through.

Farm shop near the Callicoon is also a great place. It only opens up for 3 days around the weekend but it’s plenty to stock up for the whole weekend feast. Fresh chicken and lambs, cheese, amazing beans, produce, home made jams and bread and also you get to watch baby goats, sheeps and steal a couple of wild berries from the surrounding. The lady at the farm shop is fun to talk to and the setting is absolutely perfect.

You can also do all sorts of fun things along the river. Our 6 year old son finally got to do the first fishing with his super hero fishing rod . You will see people coming down with tubes and kayaks along the current and when it gets too hot under the sun, you can jump into the river and take a nice swim as well. There are also a few camp sites where you can set up a tent and roast whatever on the fire pit. Take a hiking. Stop at the beer shack. Watch the stars. Have a good weekend!

For the Weekend 5: Adam’s Town, PA
Filed Under Fashion, For the Weekend, Travel, Vintage | Leave a Comment
The main road, ” Antique Mile”( along PA Route 272) houses many thrifty shops to higher end antique showrooms and auction houses, and the possibilities are endless. There are many grand indoor wear house types, cozy low ceiling market places and also lovely under the tree out door early-bird flea markets. You will find many big indoor type markets have helpers with their name tags on their chest wondering around the place to ready to help you. They will usually carry a huge bundle of keys to access all those well organized glass showcases.
Overall, Adam’s town has great selection of antique furniture and also farm objects as there is a big Amish community in Lancaster County. And also you will come across the beginning of the century jeweleries and clothing, collectible army gears, dolls, watches, coins, posters, books, textiles, bit of mid centuries and tons of depression time glass work and the list goes on and on.
You will need at least 2 days to hit most of the places because also not to miss early morning outdoor flea markets and there are just so many places that have from anything to everything. There are lovely colonial stone house B&Bs in town where you can have real Amish farm style breakfast and sleep under the grandma made antique quilted blankets. Leave on Saturday early morning and come back on Sunday late afternoon. It’s always fun to find something good!
What can I say, I’m a hat fanatic! Trying on hats and more hats. Especially ones from the 40’s.
Faking it!

Kenneth Jay Lane was first a shoe designer for Delman and Christian Dior. He used his free time to create fun and flash baubles. Kenneth had designed many original pieces for Jackie Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, Diana Vreeland and Audrey Hepburn.
His pieces are always fun and bold. I absolutely adore all of his animal creatures. They are not so serious but each piece he created has superb execution of essences of each animal that we are familiar with.
What is so cool about his work is that Kenneth shattered the stigma of Wearing jewelry created to mimic precious estate pieces wasn’t a point of pride. Kenneth made faux forever fabulous.
Wrist Cuff. 2 Ram heads facing each others. Kenneth Jay Lane. Collectible. See Park page for more detail.
For the Weekend 3: The Jean Jacket is A new Cardigan!
Filed Under Fashion, For the Weekend, Vintage | Leave a Comment
When was the last time you had put on a jean jacket? Or do you even still own one in your closet?
I see more guys still sporting them around more like in G-star way, the high end Raw denim in smart cut or overly cut which I like to call it.
I don’t think denim Jacket is back in a huge way that now Everyone wears them to work, dinner or wherever- you- go kind. But I definitely see they are coming back to top off pretty dresses or simply to finish your outfit in comfy way. And they look fresh and cool again.
I think the best way to pull if off is to start with the most classic ones. The more worn is the better and the simpler cut is the better because the Classic is always just right.
So why not try some vintage jean jackets? And the weekend is the perfect time to start. You already may have it. Good old Levis’ or the Gap or some none name vintage ones that worn in perfectly so it’s softer on you.
It can’t be more classic than this cut. This vintage denim jacket is soft as butter in light weight indigo denim. Perfectly worn and bit cropped. You will look great in this with classic Picasso white & navy stripe tees underneath or some sexy and easy summer dresses under. The cast is that perfectly worn true indigo but somehow very clean rather than yellowish. At Lacasapark. Size S/M. $85.00
Vintage Army Navy Flight denim jacket at Lacasapark. This is more a cross hatch light inky purple cast soft light weight jacket. The Jacket has great details like over sized army patch pockets and extended waist tab with D rings and fresh white embroidered white star badges at collar tips. The back has classic pleat wings for extra rooms. Pair this with a racer back sheer white tank and a cool breezy rolled up cargo or a mini if you’ve got good legs. Size S/M. $120.00
Start with any weekend for jean jackets. The lighter the better since we are having the warmer weather. When your weekend stroll turns into Mojito gather up with friends at the side walk cafe’, You need something to cover you up since it will go until the late night.
Enjoy your weekend!
