Back to Tulum: Sun Bragging
Filed Under Family, Mexico, Travel, Tulum | Leave a Comment
A few friends have had bit cold days in Tulum recently, so I was bit nervous when we woke up but we had great hot sunny day all day. Nice breakfast in Copal terrace overlooking the ocean and we even bragged about how hot the sun was and Gael even asked me to tie his hair in a pony tail.

Stretching and scratching, just ordered breakfast and just like 2 big cats under the sun. haha!
Hey, 3 boys. It makes me feel so happy to see Gael, Emi and Denny are all together. Like Daniel said, the Blood is thicker than the Water. The Love. The Bond. The Generation. Brother, are you here with us…?

OK, That was Heavy but Good!
Now we are going for a walking tour of where we are staying at, Copal.

I need to ask about what this is. I do think people go in there? Right in the middle of it, there seems a fire pit. Below is the Yoga house of the Copal.

Arrival of Denny

My Little Denny and Glenda, then 6 years old when I first time met, are now sexy 21 and bright. Ahhh, the time flies and I feel it to my bone! I remember them looking at me with bit of nervousness yet with affection. At the end, I was a girlfriend of their fun uncle Emiliano. In 1993 (or even now), it was not so common to see a crew cut Korean girl in a home-made 21″ dropped crutch shiny blue pants walking around in Firenze centro, and imagine in a more conservative and smaller town, Livorno…? Anyway my 2 babies are becoming more of hot babes these days and either I am shrinking, these fraternal twin kids are way taller than I am already.
And Denny’s here with us from Italy for 2 weeks and We are taking off to Tulum Today, February the 14th!

Our on going summers with Denny, Glenda & Andrea. Andrea, another beautiful nephew of 19 years old!

Tokyo Food

Speaking of Kimono, Here are amazing food of Tokyo.
Green Tea Ice cream with Sweet Red Beans and Green tea. Sweet agave syrup and dried deep sea seaweed chips with sugar. The seaweed portion got me all afraid… Did you know over 50% of food that Japanese eat are from the Ocean?
Fruits and Gonyaku with Green Tea Ice Cream.
Spicy Pork Bone broth Ramen with ground bits of Pork meat with scallions and bean sprouts. $7.00 at Taxi Drivers’ Ramen House in Harajuku. Any restaurants where Taxi drivers frequent, they have fast service and generous portion with very affordable price tag! Just something to experience. It’s a local thing to do. Remember everyone was smoking… Not my ideal situation yet it felt almost nostalgic. I mean who allows smoking indoor these days…?
Samples of various noodle soups greet customers outside of restaurants. Shibuya. No, these are not those plastic models. These are real ones.
I looovvvveee this! Sweet Yam being baked and roasted on the hot and smooth stones.
They know how to bake. I think Japanese bread and pastries are quite amazing. Nothing is too over powering . They are delicious and well balanced. Walnuts and Gorgonzola cheese. Yum and beautiful!
Green Mat Cha (powdered one) shaken with ice chunks and milk. Delicious! No sugar for me…
Boiled eggs, Gonyaku, Pork, Oden being simmered in a bath of ginger and soy broth. This is very iconic flavor of Japan. Sushi and teriyaki is just a tip of iceberg of Japanese Cuisine. Honestly, every time I go to Tokyo, the one thing that excites me the most is the food. It’s a mind blowing experience.
Food Show market at Tokyu Dept, Tokyo. My Must stop in Tokyo. I was politely asked to stop video taping… haha. It only lasts for a minute. This amazing place has everything from fresh fish and groceries to million food vendors make Indian curry to Udon noodles and delicious baked goods, fresh salad, desert and so much more around traditional Bento boxes to world cuisine. And my favorite, best Sakes you just can’t find in NY.
Study of New Shape: KIMONO

Speaking of and working with “NEW SHAPES” with my dear designers these days, this book came across just in right time for me. God, my last Thursday horoscope (Leo) just nailed it by me visiting the Barnes and Noble’s on 5th Avenue, NYC. Quoting from my memory from Horoscope.com on Thursday: An object from a different culture will arouse feeling of getting inspired …then something something… goes on. Then I thought “What are they talking about ..?” but I think now that it meant I would find this book on that night…? Anyway…
My shy and shallow knowledge of Kimono I had was completely challenged by this simple yet down to core of what Kimono means in terms of structure foundation, shape and cultural relationship to where Kimono stood then and stands now. Origami and Kimono completely crosses over I believe after this book and now I have a fun project to share with Gael studying his “Origami airplane book” we always play with in depth. We will be soon making Origami Kimono. A million shapes you can create simply by folding and flipping a piece of paper. A Book, “Kimonos” by Sophie Millenovich. Hopefully You can have a glimpse of what this book contains and is talking about through below photos.
