Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week surely needs hot tickets, the Invitations. But per Ms. Wintour ’s suggestion, here we gave a birth to a ” Fashion’s night out” day ( this time, September 10) global wide to boost the economy and get parties going on during the fashion week and it’s surely free to all.
From Barneys, Prada, Giorgio Armani, Dior, Opening Ceremony, Gap to even off the beaten path small boutiques in NYC were filled with night- outers, celebrities and designers. Shops were giving away free champagne, cup cakes and even cotton candies to all walk in night-outers to encourage late night shopping and mingle with others and designers. All the shops were open till 11:00pm and most shoppers pretty much had to have a itinerary to attend 3-4 events last night.
Some non-fashion industries also have participated the last night. Short film, commercial and publishing company, Late night & Weekend held a book signing at Barneys NY and also continued on the night by projecting their new short film over the new public park , High Line in the meat packing district.
I dig this Fashion’s Night out. I saw NY coming back to the life like golden days. People were haling taxis, girls were putting make-up on and the early fall night seemed much longer than usual. It’s a so much better way to boost the economy by having this event than Tax free over $100 purchase at a time even though I;m not so sure how profitable this whole event was at the end. Somehow it’s more intimate and involved by having chances to meet and rub elbows with aspiring designers and everyday customers. ” No drink allowed in Store” signs were taken away and they were handing a glass of Champagne to you.
Rudy had a good idea but Wintour made it to great!
